World Book Day

World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March this year and we shall be celebrating all that week(w/b Monday 4th March) . You should all have received your book tokens for this and I hope that you've  added to your libraries using these .
All children are invited to bring in their favourite book that week to share with us(please make sure they are clearly named) and to come to nursery dressed as their favourite character from any book- so please start thinking about that now!

We are expecting  the delivery of our fruit trees this week , and Joanne(Gardening 4 Kids) will be along on Friday to help the sunflowers plant them and create our new orchard . This is part of a scheme launched by Grounds For Learning . We are one of several settings across the country chosen to receive the trees , and the progress and development of this will be featured on their website . The sunflowers design was very carefully researched and put together under Joanne's expert guidance - the plans for this are on display in the sunflowers room - please have  a look . The sunflowers worked  hard on their plans - they identified a site for the orchard , looked at the soil , shelter and drainage, and then decided exactly where the trees should be planted and we are all very proud to have been chosen to take part in this initiative and are looking forward to the planting !

We are also currently updating and revamping our own website , and once completed , we hope to have a gallery of photos of all the children's activities(this will be a private area only accessible to Craigton parents) so you'll be able to see what your children do when they are here :-) . Our grateful thanks to Susan Yule for all her hard work and advice on this - its very much appreciated!  Watch this space for progress on that !

Congratulations to Donna(sunflowers) who has been appointed a Deputy Manager , and now joins Suzanne , Charlotte, Natalie and myself on the Craigton management team . Donna has been with us as a Senior Practitioner in the sunflowers for almost 2 years , and will continue to share this role with Suzanne , as well as her new management responsibilities .

And finally , a reminder that the nursery will be closed on the following dates this year :
1st April - Eater  Monday
6th May - May Day
8th July - Aberdeen  Holiday
23rd Septe- Aberdeen Holiday
We shall close at 6pm on Monday 23rd December and re-open 8am Monday 6th January 2014
